What to do if these are the last few days..

I know that I have lots of creative, funny and loving readers. I need some answers to a question.

Here goes...

What would you do with your kitty if you knew you only had a few days left with them?

(and I just covered trying catnip for the first time)...   <Never giving his sister catnip again.. catnip = psycho Hana..>

Please.. I'd love ten to twenty good ideas that I can do for,
with or to  (hahahaha) Zero before we have to say goodbye~

His time has been too short and I want him to go out having had the fullest life possible..

Thanks ..

From Zero and I..

So... Share ideas here!

  1. Hi Katey
I read your blog every few days so the news about Zero was a shock.
We have rescued animals, including cats and over the years we have lost them as well. I'm older than you and I cry when any of our animals dies. We had a rescued kitten found by a local group at 3 weeks old (her brother didn't make it). Little Nessie was my son's special kitten, she had the same (approx) birthday as him and came to us as a tiny 5 week old. She was always tiny and frail and when she was 3 and a half, Christmas 5 years ago she contracted an infection that wouldn't respond to antibiotics. She died on New Year's Eve, awful.

Have you got access to Metacam from your vet? We use it as a painkiller for birds as well as cats (on our vet's advice) and it works.

As for what you should do: you're doing it, make Zero feel safe and loved, if the sun is shining let him feel it on his fur, if he likes to be groomed, then gently brush him, talk to him, even when he's asleep.

I read your posts when you were looking for a new hoe for Zero and Hanna. I think you were meant to keep them so that Zero could live out his life in the safe secure place that he knows, in your apartment. You are meant to be where you are, doing what you do. Sometimes we must accept that it can be hard on us, but don't be hard on yourself, you're dong the right things.

About a month ago my husband was in our front garden when a young wood pigeon walked in through the gate and looked up at him. The bird couldn't fly properly yet and couldn't feed himself. We assume his parents were shot on farmland around us. It was as if the bird had seen a sign on our house "waifs and strays welcome here". I think the cats know something similar about you.

Bless you for all you do, and bless little Zero.

Julie and the cats and hens and pigeons.... in Gloucestershire U.K.

  2. Thank you so much for your comment Julie! As I read it tears came to my eyes, but tears of joy. I love to hear from other animal lovers and know that we are all in this together. His life will be celebrated through many kind actions. You are right Julie, I was meant to keep him his whole life. I can see that now. I can't imagine it not playing out this way and myself getting to be the one to snuggle him as he takes his final cat nap. He taught me a lot and I am lucky to be able to love him now. Thank you again for your kinds words.
